Professional wellbeing support for people working in humanitarian, human rights & non-profit sectors
Having worked in non-profit and humanitarian settings throughout my professional life, I remain committed to supporting others engaged in these professional domains. Humanitarian, human rights and non-profit work is deeply meaningful and enlivening, and can also be exhausting, overwhelming and discouraging. Witnessing the depth of unmet needs and the profound inequality, injustice and suffering encountered in these settings can lead to feelings of deep sadness, debilitating anxiety and anger, disempowerment and loss of hope. Organizational dynamics and interpersonal experiences within the work context can also lead to considerable stress and depletion.
Humanitarian and human rights professionals can experience vicarious trauma if they are engaged with traumatized communities, as well as work-related stress and burnout. Ongoing pressures from the work setting can impact people's emotional and relational life, intimate and social relationships, and overall health and wellbeing. With the aim of supporting professionals to sustain their commitment to human rights and justice, and continue to pursue their engagement in humanitarian and non-profit endeavors, I offer professional wellbeing support which addresses the challenges - as well as the opportunities for growth and development - inherent to this work.
