What are the first steps for seeking support? Once you submit your information through the Connect button, or contact me via email or phone, we can begin with a complimentary 30 minute consultation to mutually evaluate whether we might be a good fit for working together. Upon receiving your contact information, I will connect with you within 3 working days, and we can schedule our initial consultation.
How long might it take to schedule an appointment? If we agree to begin working together, a first appointment can usually be scheduled within the following few weeks. Depending on your schedule and my practice at the time you contact me, there may be a wait time before being able to begin. We can discuss this during our initial consultation.
What is the fee for appointments? The fee for 50 minute individual psychotherapy sessions is $230, and $260 for family and couple's therapy. Professional wellbeing support and clinical consultation for professionals in non-profit and community-based settings is $130 per hour. Fees are adjusted if you are located outside the United States working in humanitarian and non-profit organizations, and a sliding scale may be available for psychotherapy in certain circumstances.
These fees support the half-time pro bono (volunteer-based) component of Global Mosaïque Care with survivors of human rights abuses. The fees you contribute towards your own wellbeing or professional development will simultaneously allow refugees and asylum seekers to obtain needed psychosocial support. Can I use my health insurance? As I do not take insurance, I can provide monthly 'superbills' which you can submit to your health insurance for reimbursement. If you would like to use your insurance for therapy, it is recommended that you contact your carrier to verify your mental health coverage for out-of-network providers.
Do you also have an office? My practice is entirely remote, and I do not have a separate office location. Remote psychotherapy and other supportive services are conducted through a secure telehealth video platform or via phone.
How frequent are appointments? Individual, couple and family therapy sessions are usually scheduled weekly at a regular time for 50 minutes. It is also possible to plan several sessions per week, or to meet every other week. Professional wellbeing support and clinical consultation can be scheduled according to your needs.
What if I have to cancel an appointment? There is a 24-hour cancelation policy, unless there is a medical or family emergency making it impossible to communicate in time. Fees for appointments canceled with less than 24 hours' notice will be due. With the flexibility of meeting remotely, it is recommended that sessions which have to be canceled be rescheduled whenever possible, other than for planned vacation time.
For how long does therapy last? The duration of therapy will vary depending on your needs and preferences. Decisions about how long to remain in therapy are made collaboratively as the process unfolds. If you are wanting to address a discreet and time-limited challenge, a few months may be sufficient. If you are hoping to change long-standing ways of relating to others, your feelings about yourself, or patterns of being and living in the world which cause you distress, it may take longer to experience the developments you are hoping for. This will be an ongoing conversation as you establish your priorities for growth. Sometimes people decide to pause therapy for a while when they have made some significant changes, and return at a later time to attend to other needs.
Do you work with couples and families? Though I primarily work with individual adults, I also support couples and families, as well as adolescents.
What if I live outside California? Psychotherapy can be provided for residents of California, since I am licensed as a psychologist in this state. Professional wellbeing support and clinical consultation can be offered for people located throughout the United States as well as in other countries. International rates are adjusted according to the country in which you are living.
What are your practice policies? If we agree to work together, I will send you my practice policies and consent forms through a secure client portal system. We can use this online system to communicate, schedule appointments and exchange documents. You may also elect to make payments through your client portal.
If any of your questions have not been answered, please inquire during our initial consultation. I look forward to connecting with you.
